Official rules and regulations for USA EUC competitions

Governance & Authority

Amped Electric Games (AEG) is the governing authority for this racing series.

  • All races operate under this rulebook.
  • The Race Director has final authority on race day.
  • Safety overrides competition: officials may modify procedures if required.

Membership Requirements

  • Active membership is required for points, rankings, and championship eligibility.
  • Racers must sign the liability waiver before entering the track.
  • Membership status may be checked at registration.
  • Membership is renewed annually.

Rider Classification & Divisions

  • Youth: 12 and under (as of January 1).
  • Teen: 13–16 (as of January 1).
  • Pro Men: Elite riders
  • Pro Women: Open to all female riders.
  • AEG may reclassify riders for safety or competitive balance.

Registration & Credentials

  • Riders must register before the posted deadline.
  • ID may be required to verify age.
  • Riders must attend the mandatory rider meeting.
  • Event credentials must be displayed in restricted areas.

Race Numbers

  • Each rider receives a race number.
  • Numbers must be clearly displayed as required by the event.
  • 1–99 may be reserved for Pros or past champions.
  • Race numbers must be clearly visible from the front and the back.

Event Format

Events may include:

  • Practice
  • Qualifying
  • Timed heats
  • Finals
  • Mass Start

Formats must follow AEG guidelines and will be published per event.

Race Timing:

  • Times recorded to 0.01 seconds.
  • Winner determined by lowest time or fastest run depending on event format.

Timing Rules

  • Electronic timing required; manual backup allowed.
  • DNF (Did Not Finish) and DNS (Did Not Start) receive maximum points for that race.
  • Dead heats share placement and points.
  • Race Directors must verify all official times.

Points System (Transparent Formula)

8.1 Core Formula

Race Points = ((Tr – Tw) / Tw) × 1000

  • Tr = Racer''s time
  • Tw = Winner''s time

8.2 Rules

  • Winner always scores 0.00.
  • Lower points = better performance.
  • Every event counts equally.
  • No penalties, multipliers, or weighting in Year 1.

Season Ranking & Championship

9.1 Season Points Formula

Each rider''s season total = average of their two best races:

Season Points = (Best Race 1 + Best Race 2) / 2

9.3 Champion

Lowest season points wins.

9.4 Seasonal Reset

  • Season runs Jan 1 – Dec 31.
  • All rankings reset annually.

Race Classes

Classes vary by event but typically include:

  • Mens Pro
  • Womens Pro
  • Mens Amateur
  • Womens Amateur
  • Youth / Teen
  • Masters 40+

Future expansion possible, but not included in this racer rulebook.

Technical Regulations

  • Only single-wheel, self-balancing electric unicycles are allowed.
  • No handlebars or steering assists unless approved.
  • Must be free from mechanical damage.
  • Battery and wiring must be secured; no exposed HV components.
  • Officials may inspect at any time.

Safety Equipment Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Full-face helmet
  • Gloves/wrist protection
  • Knee + elbow pads
  • Armor or armored jacket (back protection strongly recommended)
  • Sturdy, ankle-covering footwear

Damaged gear may disqualify a rider from entering the course.

Course & Track Regulations

  • Tracks must have safe run-off when possible.
  • Riders must follow marshal and flag instructions.
  • Emergency access must always be clear.

Start Procedure

  • Arrive to staging on time.
  • Start order must be followed.
  • Movement before the start signal = jump start penalty.

Overtaking & Racing Conduct

  • Clean, respectful racing is required.
  • Must allow reasonable space when passing.
  • Blocking, weaving, or dangerous line changes prohibited.
  • Crashed riders must rejoin only when safe.

Flags & Race Control Signals

  • Green: Track live
  • Yellow: Caution – no passing
  • Red: Race stopped
  • Black: Rider-specific issue – exit track
  • Checkered: End of session

Penalties

  • Warning
  • Time penalty
  • Position penalty
  • Removal from session or event

Disqualification

May result from:

  • Intentional/reckless contact
  • Riding impaired
  • Physical or verbal assault
  • Unsafe or illegal equipment

Appeals Process

  • Timing/placement protests must be submitted in the protest window.
  • Must be written and directed to the Race Director.
  • Video evidence may be considered.
  • Race-day decisions are final.

Medical & Emergency Standards

  • EMS must be present for racing sessions.
  • Riders involved in major crashes may need evaluation.
  • Officials may remove riders for safety concerns.

Venue Responsibilities (Racer-Relevant)

  • Venues must maintain safe tracks and barriers.
  • Riders must follow venue safety rules at all times.

Media, Timing & Scoring

  • Approved timing systems determine official results.
  • Riders must ensure numbers and timing chips are properly placed.
  • Events may record video, photos, and interviews.

Youth Participation & Age Requirements

  • Youth classes must follow published age limits.
  • Guardian consent required.
  • Additional safety gear or speed limits may apply.

Environmental & Battery Safety

  • Damaged or swollen batteries are prohibited.
  • Charging only in designated areas.
  • Any battery incident must be reported immediately.

Substance Use & Impairment

  • No alcohol, drugs, or impairing substances before or during racing.
  • Officials may remove riders suspected of impairment.

Rule Change Procedure

  • AEG may update rules as needed.
  • Revisions will be published with version dates.
  • Riders may submit feedback for future seasons.
